Its called an 88 spcl because it is a no frills engion. It does not have the amenties like the 90 or 115hp have. Outboard Jack didnt go into specifics.. July 19 florida man

If it has deep grooves in it, you will proabaly need to overbore it to clean up the walls. Also, in rare overeheats, the bridges in the intake and exhaust area can crack-making the block scrap. Had it out last night and it had been running fine, went to get on plane to go to a new spot and it started to shake / miss and didn't have much power.
