Mage hand seems pretty limited in what it can do compared to tabletop, as it can really only do 2 things: shove and throw (and technically punch for a low chance to deal 1 damage.) If you cast mage hand during combat, it takes an action and the mage hand will have to wait until the next round to act, so it is best ... the not enough space message seems clear? its an actual summon that can move around on its own so there has to be space for it. you can’t loot with it but you can use it to interact, move, throw, and push things around. also some containers are just unlootable, even though the icon to loot it is there.
